Volunteering
  
  Persons who can spare an hour or two a week or once a month are needed. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer with Southwest Austin Caregivers, please telephone us at 512-364-6501 and we will mail an application to you, or you may download it from the Documents page. Once your application is reviewed, a preliminary background check is conducted. Training is provided to familiarize you with Southwest Austin Caregiver policies, procedures, and client service expectations. Volunteer insurance is provided.  
 
  Volunteers Are Needed As:  
 
Drivers
  • Volunteers drive older adults to doctor appointments, beauty shops, and grocery stores or may run personal errands.
  • All drivers establish their own times to drive within defined geographic areas.
  • Volunteers' children may be welcome to ride along.
  
 
Friendly Visitors and Telephone Reassurance
  • Many of our older adults enjoy a visit from time to time or love to chat on the phone.
  • Older adults enjoy visits in their home or by phone on weekends, evenings or during the weekday when working family members are not available.
  
 
Office Assistance/Support
  • Answering the phones and taking clients requests for services.
  • Helping schedule and coordinate clients drives and other service requests.
  
 
Handyman Services
  • Helping with minor home repairs and tasks.
  • Performing tasks such as minor maintenance and yard work.
  
 
 

Volunteer requests are always gratefully honored. We take into consideration volunteers’ time and availability, and skills and talents. Volunteers make their own schedules.
